Partial protection?

  I was wondering if there was a way to only partially password protect a post? As in having the post visible, but the text behind the ‘more’ tag require a password. Is this doable?

  Not at WP.com as far as I know. What you CAN do I believe is make the post, and then make a sub-page that’s password-protected and link to that.

  That won’t work here at wordpress.com, only on self-hosted blogs using the software downloaded from wordpress.org. We don’t have access to the backend files.

  Actually, what you could do is make two different posts: one partial and public, the other full and password-protected. At the end of the partial post, put “to read the rest, click here and put in the password” and make that text a link to the password-protected post.
