Partial refund?

  Hi, I’ve bought a domain name and then a premium account, but I saw that wordpress.org offered more possibilities so I asked for a refund and only got partially refunded (95$ CAD of 129$ CAD). Is there a way to have the whole payment back? Is it possible to have the domain name back? Or even better is there a way to migrate safely from wordpress.com to wordpress.org?

  We need details please.
  1. What is the domain URL?
  2. What is the underlying .wordpress.com URL?
  3. Exactly which username account registered the underlying .wordpress.com blog and purchased the upgrade for it?
  4. When was the upgrade purchased?
  5. When did the refund request and cancellation take place?

  WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours. It takes from 1 – 2 weeks or 10 business days for the refund to be received.

  – the URL is botchville.com
  -the understand URL is botchville.wordpress.com
  – user is botchville
  – the payment and refund were made on the day of this post

  As for retaining the domain name, I tought I asked for a refund, maybe I misclicked on something but as an after thought my partner and I thought that if we could migrate from wordpress.com to .Org it would be nice to have the same domain name.

  Hi there,

  There are two options here:

  1) I can try to restore your domain, and then I can help you point it to another hosting provider once you’ve set up a hosting account for your WordPress.org site. This is the safest option if you still want to use the domain.

  2) I can refund you for the domain as you did cancel within the refund period. The domain should be released again in about 5 days, at which point you can register it with a different domain provider. But once it’s released anyone else will also be able to register it, so there is a risk of losing the domain.

  Let me know which one you’d like to do.

  We will happily take option 1! We’re currently looking for a host for our website and it would be nice to keep the domain name. Keep us updated on the situation!

  Okay. Your domain is restored and active in your account again.

  You can use these instructions to point it to another service:

  Move Your Domain to Another Host

  Or once you find hosting, let me know their Name Servers or IP addresses and I can also add those for you.
