  Excellent article by Jakob Nielsen on participation inequality at:

  I feel his point about making it easier for people to contribute to the conversation is well made:
  “Make it easier to contribute. The lower the overhead, the more people will jump through the hoop. For example, Netflix lets users rate movies by clicking a star rating, which is much easier than writing a natural-language review.”
  So, any possibility of a star rating system for posts on wordpress.com?

  Interesting, but I was hoping to have something built into WP rather than relying on visitors who are reluctant to interact anyway having to go to another site.

  ajcann: I look at it as a testing ground. If *no one* uses the fanpop site, then it’s a good indication that they wouldn’t use a wp.com site either.

  If people do use it, and it becomes valuable then it’s so much easier to ask for it and say “see, people like it”.
