partitioning my blog

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I’m a bit confused as to where to even start looking.
I want to know how to create partitions on my blog, kinda like so I can feature snippets of two categories offering the reader the chance to click Read More if they choose either. Because my blog focuses on living with fibromyalgia and depression, I want to feature my two latest posts on both areas. How can I achieve this? is there a widget? will I have to customise it? or change the theme altogether? what are my options? Many thanks in advance!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I think the best way to go about this is to create Category Pages and create a Custom Menu so that you can have a page for posts categorized in Living with Fibromyalgia and another page for posts categorized in Depression. I’m not sure if that’s the two categories you want, but that would be an example.

If you just want to create snippets and have the reader click to view the entire post, you can do that by adding a More Tag where you want the snippet to stop and place a Continue Reading link.

I hope this helps! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Hi Sorry Grace , dont think Im explaining very well.

The More Tag bit is useful.

But I really need like a kind of line down my home page. So the page basically split into parts. I see this is some of the journalism or magazine themes. I will see if I can find one and show you.

    Thanks:)

    Hi there,

From my knowledge, there isn’t a theme where you can put two post categories on the same page in two columns. Is this a necessity for you? Would it be okay to put them on separate pages?

However, if you can find something on theme.wordpress.com, please let me know and I can see what we can do!

    Hi Grace,

I think what Im looking for seems available more in the premium themes (cant buy one right now).

If you look at the layout of the Snap theme where there are different partitions/ columns/boxes for different stories/content.

I may just ahve to wait and purchase one of those themes later one.

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

Hopefully it’ll work out! With that theme you can separate each section by Featured, Content, and Posts instead of categories. :)

    Cheers!
