Partnerships, sponsored posts and selling services

    Hey everyone,

My blog is “L’atelier de Simon” (atelierdesimon.com), about goods produced in France. I recently upgrade my blog to Premium. I recently received an offer to make a partnership with a french association, that promotes industrial tourism. I want to know if I’m allowed to create this kind of partnertship on wordpress.com. Moreover, I will not get paid for this partnership.

My next question is : can I write sponsored posts (paid or not) with proper indication ? It’s very unclear if I can do so. I read this (https://en.support.wordpress.com/sponsored-posts/), I believe that I can do so, but I’m not sure.

Finally, my last question : can I sell my own services, through an adequate contact form, on my blog ?

    Best regards,

    Simon

I just wanted to know what is exactly allowed or not on WordPress.com. I read posts from WordPress forums, ToS and FAQ. If I’m right :
    – Sponsored posts are allowed only if they consist of original content created by me
    – I can sell my services if I upgrade to a Business blog
    – Partnerships are allowed under conditions – no third party advertissing, no ads etc…

    Hi Simon,

It sounds like the partnership you’ve created is allowed. Even if you do get paid for the partnership in the future, so long as the content your original writing, it is allowed. If your partners ask that provide links to other partners, that’s also fine.

However, if you attach links to images in a way that is considered advertising, that is where we our terms of service team will ask you to remove that link or image. For example, you write a post saying “Visit this place!” That’s great. :)

In that article, you say “You can buy tickets for tours here” and add a link to that text. That’s also allowed. However, if you then have an image of the place promoting those tour tickets, and link to the ticket — this may be considered advertising.

My next question is : can I write sponsored posts (paid or not) with proper indication ?

You can write sponsored posts. From that document you linked to:

Whether you are paid to publish this material or not, we allow sponsored posts on WordPress.com as long as they consist of original content created by you.

So long as it’s your content, you can post it on WordPress.com even if you’re being paid by someon to post that content.

Finally, my last question : can I sell my own services, through an adequate contact form, on my blog ?

    Yes, you can.

    Correct

    – I can sell my services if I upgrade to a Business blog

You can sell your services even with a free blog. But if you want to make use of our e-Commerce tools to sell goods or services, you’ll need a business blog. It sounds like for your needs you just need a Contact Form, and you can do the “selling” over email, phone, etc.

    – Partnerships are allowed under conditions – no third party advertissing, no ads etc…

    Correct.
