passing from paid domain name back to the free version
-
I took over the wordpress site leonswimminganddiving.wordpress.com and purchased the domain name leonswimming.com , which I’m paying for annually. Is it possible for me to revert back to the free domain leonswimminganddiving.wordpress.com at some point, and retain the current site contents?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes, leonswimminganddiving.wordpress.com will retain the site content if you stop using the purchased domain.
When I checked, leonswimminganddiving.com was the active domain, not leonswimming.com, which was not working.

Yes you can revert back to the .wordpress.com URL by removing the domain mapping and the content will be exactly where it is now. However, when any domain link to the content is clicked anywhere on the internet, including in search engines results, there will be a 404 page not found error ie. a broken link. It will take months for search engines to index that same content again under the .wordpress.com URLs.
