I cannot change my password! I put several in the appropriate box, enter them under “save password,” and it defaults back to the original. Over and over and over….. Thank you. Steve

Hi stomson2001,
Please check if you’ve followed all of these steps:
- In the Administration Screen, menu, go to Users > All Users.
- Click on your username in the list to edit
- In the Edit User screen, scroll down to the New Password section and click Generate Password button.
- If you want to change the automatically generated password, overwrite it in a new password in the box provided. The strength box will show how good (strong) your password is.
- Click the Save Password button.
If yes, please ensure your password is strong enough to be accepted and don’t forget to click ‘Save Password’.
Please try this and let me know if it helped.

Thanks for the advice but it still did not work. I clicked “Saved Password” and my old one came up.
One thing not mentioned in the instructions is that I need to hit “security” to get to the password section.

Hi Steve,
Just realised the solution I shared works for WordPress.org and not WordPress.com.
You can have a new password by reseting it with the Lost Password form.
You can try other Account Recovery options too.
Hope this helps you.
