  How can I protect my website with a password? To only allow the ability for someone to view the website if they have the password. (not have the site available publicly)

  There is no password-protection option for entire blogs. You can password-protect individual posts and pages, but not the whole blog. You can set it to Public, or you can set it to Hidden, which means people can read it if they know how to find it, but search engines cannot find it, or you can set it to Private, so only you and the people you approve can see it.
