  Are passwords encrypted on my wordpress.com site?

  But, yes, passwords are encrypted on WordPress.com.

  HI, thanks for response. I mean that I don’t want passwords passed i clear text- several encryption methods can accomplish this.

  At any rate, it seems my site hosted on WordPress.com must have encrytion in place (implemented by WordPress itself) , but a wordpress site hosted on my company server does not, and I need to add a plugin. Am I correct?

  Hi, you are in the wrong forum.
  This forum is for blogs/sites hosted in WordPress.com.

  WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and different http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  And you should ask in the WordPress.org forum
