  hi – this password thing is a nightmare. I can’t access what I want to from my Kindle or iPhone because of some 2-step authenticator crap. how can I get rid of that and just have a regular password?

  Sure, but you’re the one who enabled the two step authentication in the first place. http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/two-step-authentication/

  Not at all – two step is not default – it is opt in and the instructions @RC gave you above tell you how to disable it –
