Hi @king020118,
If you are unable to access your account by either email or username then you are able to access your account via Account Recovery From which is accessible by clicking the “Need More Help?” button on the Password Reset page.
Please be aware that you may need to have access to your old email account to assist in the Proof Of Ownership of your site.
Cheers!

Hi there,
If you still have access to the email connected to the account, you can enter that email address in the password recovery form. Please check your spam folder for the recovery email if you don’t immediately receive it in your inbox:
https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
If that doesn’t work, in order to regain access to a WordPress.com account, we’ll need one of the following things:
* A transaction ID for any upgrades purchased for the account
https://en.support.wordpress.com/transaction-id/
* The WordPress.com account activation link, which we sent to your email address when you first registered with us. If the email you received included a confirmation button instead of a link, you can copy the activation URL by right-clicking on the button and selecting “Copy Link Address” (this text may slightly vary, depending on your browser).

I have neither access to the old email address nor the account activation link. These are both several years out of date and, although I thought I had updated my WordPress account settings, I must have neglected to do so.
My larger concern is that AT NO TIME have I changed my password at all. In fact, my computer auto-populates it regularly and I managed to log in successfully just a few weeks ago.

king020118,
I am having the same issue in this new year. Never have I changed the WordPress password, yet am unable to access the account. There are only a handful of alternatives because I use only a handful of passwords.
The activation URL or key can never be found because the email address used no longer exists. It is defunct.
The account, which I manage now and was set up by my colleague in 2010, was upgraded to a paid account in the spring of 2017. However, I cannot find any billing records and therefore cannot find a Transaction ID. Is WordPress.com the company to look for on the billing?

I think SOMETHING has happened at the turn of the year that is preventing folks from logging into their WordPress account. I am seriously on the verge of simply ditching WordPress entirely and finding another source for my webpage and blog. There is ZERO reason I should not be able to log into my account when I did so literally just days ago.

Hi King and Jeffrey,
Both your accounts have an active upgrade. If you could get the transaction ID from your bank or credit card statement I’ll be able to help you recover your accounts. Here’s how to find the transaction ID:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/transaction-id/#if-you-dont-have-access-to-the-receipt
If you find the transaction ID please do not post it in this public thread. Just let me know and I’ll contact you privately.

First, what is an active upgrade?
Again, I do not have access to the transaction ID … NOR should I NEED to. This account was created more than 2 years ago, which is as far back as Paypal (and my bank) offer previous statements.
How about we just re-set the password to what it ORIGINALLY was (you should have that information handy) so that we can access our accounts? We are being locked out because of something WordPress is doing?

It’s the domain mapping upgrade for potamuspower.com

The domain mapping upgrade is renewed yearly so there should be a copy of that transaction in your bank or credit card statement for 2017.

I don’t have access to view any WordPress.com user password due to security reasons. If you could find the transaction ID then I can change the email associated with that account so that you can perform the password reset yourself.
-
I cannot find that transaction. Can you at least provide WHEN it occurred and how it would be listed?
-
fstat,
The transaction ID for the card issuer shows that the payment was processed by PayPal. However, Paypal could not find the transaction and referred me to speak with the card issuer, which in this case is American Express. I contacted them and they gave me information which may or may not be the transaction ID. Please contact me privately.
-
@caviceprotection, I have contacted you via e-mail. Please follow up there. Thanks!
@king020118, The transaction took place in July 2017. The transaction ID should appear right after “WPCHRG.COM”.

I re-submitted the form with the transaction ID and received the following email. Please contact me directly via email so that I can provide that directly to you.

Hi there,
If you aren’t able to provide an email from the email address with which the blog was registered, a PayPal transaction ID, or the original activation link, I’m afraid we won’t be able to help you recover the account.
We have a strict policy in place to protect our users from third parties who might try to use our support system to gain access to other users’ accounts.
However, if there’s personal information on your blog, I would be happy to set it to private for you so search engines and users can’t access it – just let me know.
Let me know if you have any other questions
Thanks,
Darnell D.
