Password problem with protecting a page…

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi folks!

For giving some of my trainees the slides of a presentation I wanted to protect a page with some PDF-Files uploaded. I don´t know why but from my computer I can get in the protected page without any problem after entering the password but anybody else (who is not a wordpress member?) can´t! Istn´t that amazing? I wrote my problem to the support guy and he could get in without any problem and his friends either. But I myself still received mails on and on telling me that nobody could get access! So I got confused and tried it myself on about ten different computers – and they were right: No chance to get in!

Please help me! This is really enervating!

    Thx! Ben

I just want to make sure we are on the same page here. I have several ‘password protected’ posts on my blog and I just tested them in all my browsers on all my computers not logged in and I can still put in the correct password and then see the post. Is there any particular browser that are common when you can’t access them or an operating system? If you clear the browser cache and try force loading the page will it let you in then? Can you create a test post on your blog for us to try?

the link to my blog is http://www.emergencycare.at OR emergencycare.wordpress.com! Go and try to enter the page downloads! the pw is : “adrenalin”

All the things you said I have already tried! It doesn´t mather if I try firefox or the internet explorer – it still doesn´t work.

You might try and get in but I swear to god here in Vienna I tried up to 10 Machines and had no chance! And I have a several Mails of my trainees in my Inbox which report the same problem!

    THX for your support!

Failed on a Mac running Firefox 2.0.0.2

No error message comes up, the page just reloads with the empty password field. No luck after clearing cache and forcing a reload.

no luck with Safari 2.0.4 either

Opera 9.00 was a no-go, too, BUT IE 5.2 for Mac got in!

FYI, i was using the wordpress.com address every time.

That’s all the browsers i have. Anyone else?

I tried it with all my browsers (some of which Judy has and IE):

    Protected: Downloads
If you see that - please contact me - that must be a miracle

“No error message comes up, the page just reloads with the empty password field.” THAT IS EXACTLY MY PROBLEM!! Okay folks – what could that be? We have some unseres who can get in and some who can´t! I hate to mention it – but I´ve never had that problem with typepad!!

Thank you so much for all your support!

Reply back to the staff and quote the testing done in this thread:

That way they know what they are looking at here as it will have to be bug tracked and fixed by them anyways!
