password protect a page

I’d like to upload PDF files for my clients to view & download. I’d like those documents to be password protected so only those with the password can access the documents. I do not want the general public or those who are not clients, but visiting my site, to be able to access these PDF files. How do I accomplish this?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there, Kurtis!

    You have a couple solutions.

The first is to make your site private, so only people you invite to access it can view your pages/posts. This is how to change your site’s privacy settings:
    en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

The next is to keep your site public, but password protect specific pages. Here are those directions:

Personally, I find another level of security to be embedding a document (rather than adding the PDF to a page for a download, since the PDF itself isn’t password protected, only the page it’s on).

I like this service a lot:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/scribd/

Or, you could also use a Google doc:
    en.support.wordpress.com/google-docs/

I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!
