password protect entire blog for users who aren’t logged in?

Is there a way to password protect the entire blog for users who aren’t logged in/registered with wordpress.org?
I want to start a password protected blog, but I don’t want to bother my readers with having to log in or register. If wordpress doesn’t, can anyone recommend a website (not blogspot or blogger) that will accommodate me? thanks!

Since you are talking about a self-hosted blog, you need to inquire over at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ since that is where the self-hosted wordpress blogs are supported. This forum is for those hosted at the wordpress.COM free hosting service and stuff here works differently.
Also, wordpress.ORG is not connected to your blog, and people with a wordpress.ORG username/password cannot log into your self-hosted blog. You have to set them up directly in your blog dashboard.

oops again, logged in under wrong account. I meant wordpress.com – is there anyway for me to edit my post?

You should always paste the exact URL of your blog when asking questions here – or link your nickname to your blog as explained in the Sticky “8 Things to Know“. We cannot help you without that.

Thanks.
1. By “editing the post” I understand you mean your post here. No, that’s not possible.
2. The password-protect option works with registered users only. They don’t have to sign up for a blog – just a user name.
