I have wordpress 6,9 and woo commerce 10,3.6 . I want to password protect my shop but am unsuccessful. I have entered a password in the quick edit and saved. It worked perfectly when I did the same for my Cart. But not the shop, I the tried to go deeper and tried the site editor and made sure the password was there saved and exited . Nothing. I the tried turning off all plugins, one by one, still nothing. I have twenty twenty five.
I have tried different webbreaders and devices. I get a the word protected ( mine is swedish so it might be a different translation) on the first page. of the store, but it is not protected. What more can I do? I am not a programmer.

    Hi there,

I understand how puzzling it can be when a feature works perfectly on one page, like your Cart, but fails on another, like your Shop page. It sounds like you have done some excellent troubleshooting already by testing plugins and different editors.

First – could you please share your site URL with us? If your site is hosted here on WordPress.com, we can take a closer look at your specific setup. Since this is a public forum, please be sure not to share any private login credentials, just the URL.

Regarding the issue, the “Shop” page in WooCommerce is a bit unique compared to standard pages. It acts as an archive to automatically display your products. Often, the standard WordPress password protection will hide any text content you added to that page, but it may not hide the product grid itself, which is why you might see the “Protected” label while the products remain visible.

To fully hide the Shop or make the store private, standard password protection is sometimes insufficient without additional customization. Many users achieve this functionality by using a specific plugin or extension designed to make the store private.

Here is some documentation from WooCommerce that might point you in the right direction regarding private stores:
    https://woocommerce.com/document/private-store-website/

This uses the paid extension “Private Store & Website for WooCommerce”: https://woocommerce.com/products/private-store-website/
