Password Protected Blog?

I’d like to allow my daughter to write this online blog complete with pictures but don’t want it “open to the world” so would like people to have to enter a password before viewing. I don’t want people to have to register into WordPress and have a list of invitees but one password to get in. I don’t see any option for this and while I found a PlugIn, apparently wordpress.com doesn’t allow other plugins and their standards don’t seem to offer this option. Anyone know if this is possible and how?
