Password protected blog with only 1 allowed user name?

  Hi,

  I am looking for a solution around a problem I have with wanting to password protect a blog for a certain time, but having readership who are unwilling to sign up for a wordpress user name.

  I assume this won’t work, but does anyone know if it would be possible for me to password protect the entire site, set up a user name, and then give that one user name to everyone? Will wordpress allow several computers to be logged in under the one allowed user name?
