Password protected blog won't open
-
We’ve password protected this blog — password “firstblog”.
But when we try to open the blog (whether as Administrator or Editor or just a visitor) by keying in the password and clicking on “SUBMIT”, nothing happens. The Administrator or Editor can go into Edit (from the link on the LHS of the screen), but then clicking on Preview takes us back to the screen asking for Password. The visitor cannot get into the blog at all.
What are we doing wrong? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m getting really frustrated with WordPress, its non-intuitiveness and now a bug! Yes, a bug!
We put in the password “firstblog” for this password protected blog. As described above, we tried many times but could not get into the blog using that password. So I went in to try to change the password and found that the password is “firstb”! I changed that to “firstblog” and the change was accepted. But still the blog would not open with that password!
After a bit more experimentation, I now realise that there must be a 6-character limit on WordPress passwords. But if that limit is exceeded, WordPress still appears to accept the longer password and gives no warning that it has been truncated. And where, pray tell, does WordPress tell us that the 6-char limit exists?
I’ve had a lot of help from 2 people in this forum, and for that I’m grateful. But I can’t accept that what is supposed to be a simple user-friendly program is just the opposite AND there is a bug in it that would have been very easily avoided by anybody with an elementary knowledge of programming. This wasted hours of my and my wife’s time and we are not feeling good about WordPress. -
As to why you are having trouble – sorry don’t know – but I just went to my test blog and put in a 10 character password, and things worked just fine – so there is not a 6 char limit

Having answered several of your questions, I think part of the problem (although not THIS problem!) is that you are getting ahead of yourself. If you go through http://learn.wordpress.com it’s a good introduction to the way WordPress “thinks,” which is certainly not the way everyone else does. But it’s a good guideline because in the future when faced with something that seems inexplicable, you’ll be able to look at it from that perspective.
I mean, until this thread there absolutely were no public posts whatsoever on your site, so naturally we couldn’t really help. We couldn’t see what needed helping, and we could not confirm that was the blog you were talking about.
Trust me, it may be boring to go through the video, but it will save you time in the long run.
