Password-protected documents

  Can someone confirm to me that documents linked to password protected pages are secure. Thanks

  They are not – if someone has the direct link to a document that is referenced in a password protected Post / Page – someone can give out the direct link to the document and the document can be downloaded.

  If the information in question is only on the Post or Page – then someone does need to have a password to view the information

  Note also that documents like PDF files can have their own password to open

  Mmm, strange as I just tested trying to access the direct link to a document that is attached to a password-protected page, and I am pleasantly surprised that I get this message:
  — 403: Access Denied —

  This file requires authorization:

  You must be logged in
  and a member of this blog.
  Log in to proceed.

  Maybe I stand corrected – is the blog you are testing a private blog?

  I just checked

  on a “Private Post” – was able to download a pdf file that I had the direct link for

  Password Protected Post – was able to download a pdf file that was a direct link

  note that I had logged out of my account for the download test

  if your blog was Private – then the results might be different
