When I put in the password to the page, it gives me an error saying the following:

Hi there,
The username you are posting as
grantshoop81147172currently does not have any sites hosted by WordPress.com If you are asking about a site with the WordPress.com Business plan please start a live chat or post here as the user on the account and we’ll take a look. These forums are for sites that we host here on WordPress.com, your site sounds like it could be using the self-hosted version of WordPress installed to another host from WordPress.org. For more on the difference ways to use WordPress see:
I would recommend switching to a default theme temporarily and seeing if the problem exists. If it doesn’t reach out to Elegant Themes (the makers of Divi) to see if they have any tips on how to solve this.
If you’re having the problem with a default theme, try removing all plugins until you find what’s causing the issue and finally if you still able to reproduce with no plugins and on a default theme ask in the WordPress.org community forums at:

I tried to adjust the look of the passwords page by using php code that I found online and was told to put in into functions.php. I thought that it worked, but it made it so that the password log in for the protected page wouldn’t function. I kept getting the error.

Hi @grantshoop811471723, if you’re modifying your functions.php file it’s almost sure you’re using WordPress.org rather than hosting here with us.
I’d recommend searching for the error or heading over to https://wordpress.org/support and asking there, or asking Divi’s authors directly whether they have advice.
