Password Protected Page not Working

    For a little while now I am having issues and it seems that it occurred from the latest WordPress update.

    One thing is, my Password Protected Pages always worked, for a while now it does not work anymore. It asks for the password, and its typed in correctly, but it keeps asking for the password. I even copied and pasted the password and it still ask for the password. It does not open the page as it should.

    Some password protected pages does not even ask for a password.

    I have to mention, When I am logged into the Admin the the password protected pages works perfectly, but when logged out it does not work as mentioned above. I tried everything, disabled Plugins etc, no change.

    Its not on my side only, even my clients from different towns can open the password protected pages, and they always did before.

    Hi there,

    Seems like you’re using the self hosted version of WordPress (WordPress.org). This forum is for WordPress.com users unfortunately. Check out the WordPress self hosted forum here

    As you already mentioned this issue started happening after a recent WordPress update, i would suggest rolling your site back to the previous version.

    Sometimes plugins will conflict with the latest WP releases, when this happens most plugin developers will be working on fixing their products asap, but without contacting them you wont know how long this will take.

    Steps to take

    1. Contact the password page protection plugin developers, let them know about the issue
    2. Reach out to your host, ask if they can roll back your WordPress install to the previous version
    3. If your host cannot help, install WP Downgrade plugin, roll back WordPress to the previous version yourself
