Password protected post

  I have a blog that subscribers have sent to their email when I add a post which is once a week. I have also added a daily past that I have made password protected for some of my subscribers but not for all. How can I make sure that these password only posts don’t go to all subscribers or anybody at all. And how can in ensure that only the non password protected posts appear in Facebook updates. I don’t want to make my password protected posts private as there are over 80 people who would need to access these password protected posts???

  There is no way to keep your subscribers from being notified. I just tested this and I received a notification in the mail. So far, it is not showing up on the Reader, but I have seen some postings delayed on that.

  I would suggest creating a new blog and making it private, if you plan on doing so many protected posts and just invite those people you wish to see these posts. This is the only way I can think of to keep any one other than those 80 from being notified.

  If it was only an occasional post, you could create a password protected page and there are no notifications for those. It’s not really ideal, though. That is what I chose to do when I did not want all of my followers notified, but it was just one post.

  About Facebook, I cannot help you as I do not use that service. I will tag this for staff to read and they will know the answer.

  Hi Jenny,

  All of your subscribers will be notified that there is a new post, though they will only see that there is a new “Password Protected” post. They will not see any more detail than this unless you have shared the password with them.

  As The Birding Bunch said, the only way to have all subscribers not notified at all is to pick the Private option or start a new, entirely Private blog.

  As to Facebook or other Publicize updates, Private and Password Protected posts do not go to Facebook or other Publicize services.
