Password protected posts
-
I’ve set up this blog to function as a way for the members of our Holocaust education nonprofit to be involved in administrative matters, as well as to submit input regarding projects and the like.
It will also be used for our board discussions, since our board of directors is spread across the US. For example, posting minutes to this blog, where everyone can approve at their leisure.
Some of the documents will need to be private, so I’ve password-protected them.
1) Can I be reasonably confident that – assuming a sound password – someone won’t be able to hack these password-protected posts?
2) These documents won’t show up in e.g. Google or Bing search results, or will they?
3) Will comments also be password-protected?
I checked out the information about making the whole site private, and opted against that. At our next board meeting in September, we’ll be deciding what should be private and what can be public, with “public” as the default option going forward. We want to be good stewards of our members’ and donors’ funds, so see this WordPress blog as a way for that to happen.
Any tips or encouragement or suggestions will be appreciated!

1) Yes, but passwords are very insecure because people do pass them around.
2) No, they won’t.
3) Yes.

Thank you raincoaster. We will be dealing with a very limited number of people having the passwords (six plus me), and since I’m admin, that worries me less. I just wanted a bit of reassurance that it is a relatively secure way of communicating.
