password protected posts
-
I tried to password protect a post as an experiment but it displayed the post anyway and it showed up as visible on Facebook since my accounts are connected. Fortunately, this was only a test and not a real disclosure of something I would be upset about others seeing or knowing. However, if for any reason I wanted to utilize the feature in the future, I want to fix the problem or find out what I did wrong. I chose to edit the privacy option. The choices were private, password protect and public. I chose password protect and entered a password and clicked ok. To begin with, when I viewed the changes, I was presented a screen that required me to enter a password to view the post but immediately on logging into Facebook, I saw it was public and viewable by anyone.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Did you log out of WordPress.com and then clear your browser cache and cookies before visiting the site without logging in like any visitor would do http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

Yes I logged out of WordPress but did not clear my browser at any point. Not only that, I went straight from WordPress to Facebook, where I saw that the post was visible to everyone who I am friends with and friends of friends. So it shouldn’t be a browser issue at all. At this late date, I went ahead and published it. I have another post that illustrates WHY I want to explore protecting future posts that I can set up and send you a URL too. Let me post this, go back and set it up and send it.

I just cleared my browser and republished a password protected post. It’s too late to matter now and I may not use the option in the future so it’s irrelevant at this point actually. http://mycoignofvantage.wordpress.com/2014/05/10/3344/

Yep, it’s password-protected. The only reason it didn’t seem so to you was that you’d already stored the password as a cookie on your computer.
