Password protecting a page.

    I am trying to unable the password protection of a couple of pages of photos on our site. I have found the area to do it, but I put in a password and update the page then I got to the page and enter the password and it does not open to the page it shows the page with the password prompt. Is there a certain length you are allowed to use, is the a certain way you need to update that page?
    Please help.
