Password Protecting A Page Doesn’t Work
-
Hi Folks,
In my blog (http://dmcrun.wordpress.com) I have recenctly created a post where I tease people with some details about a drawing I recently held (check it out, June 8th posting), then there’s a link to a page that’s password protected and that holds a video of the drawing.
People can read the posting, but when they click the link, they see a blank page. When I’m logged into WordPress, it works fine, but when I’m not, it doesn’t.
What am I doing wrong?

I’ve resolved this myself….user error. I hadn’t published the page that had the password on it, so the link went to a page in Draft Status.

Well, I published it and it worked as expected for a while. But now, the page has a password, but the user is not being asked to enter it.
What’s going on? If someone can show me it’s user error again I’ll take up another hobby.

Are you checking that yourself? Once someone has entered teh password, their computer receives a cookie and as long as they don’t clear cookies they can always get straight to the page. Clear cookies and cache and try when you’re logged out.
That freaked me out a few times on my own blog.
