Hey @emilyalicewilson,
First things first, can you share with us the url for the site in discussion.
Next up, here are a few probable troubleshooting steps I could think off:
1. Make sure you have launched your site. At this step if you see the launch button greyed out when you hover over it, that means its important you verify your email address. That’s explained in step 2. Also read more about launch site : https://wordpress.com/support/settings/privacy-settings/#launching-your-site.
2. Verify email: You must see an email from WordPress.com requesting an email verification for your site. Just need to log in to the email account that you used to set up your WordPress.com account and then find the email from WordPress.com and click verify email address link in it.This must be very much in the begging, like when you created an account and started the site. Look into your spam/junk mail too. In your case, if the solution lies here and somehow you cannot find the verification email, please be sure to check that you have typed your email address correctly at https://wordpress.com/me/account
3. If all the above is as per requirements, perhaps a quick read through this support doc can help you resolve the issue?
https://wordpress.com/support/post-and-page-visibility/Hope this helps. Please feel free to write back if none of this works, may be one of us can help you fix this timely.
