  Hi, can I add password protection to this free version? I mean so that only someone who knows the password can see this website?

  If you want to make your complete site private then you can change the privacy setting of your site as private.

  Under this feature. The user who will visit your site must have the WordPress.com account and after that, they will request for an invite. The invites you will accept those users will be able to view your site.
