Password protection not working on a Site Page
-
Hi,
I am trying to set two of my four site pages to password protected before posting my blog to a larger social media group. While I was able to get that to work for my ‘About Me’ page it is not working for another page. I went to Edit the Site Page, then Page Settings and then changed from Public to Password Protected. I entered a password and then updated on the top right. People are still able to see everything on that page without a password. What’s going on?
Thanks,

Hi there,
People are still able to see everything on that page without a password.
How do you know this? Did someone else tell you they’re able to see the page? Or did you check it yourself in your browser?
If you checked it yourself in your browser, and you’d already previously entered the password, the post will immediately load for you as we store a cookie in your browser the first time you enter the password, so you won’t have to enter it again the next time you load the page. The only way to check if the post is really password protected is to view your site in an incognito window.
Both your pages at https://thatstoryilike.wordpress.com/life/ and at https://thatstoryilike.wordpress.com/aboutme/ are password protected.
However, in your menu the Life item is not linking to https://thatstoryilike.wordpress.com/life/. Instead, it’s linking to https://thatstoryilike.wordpress.com/category/life/ – a category page that displays all posts published under the category, “life”. Category pages cannot be password-protected.
