Password Protection Plug-In
-
Hello everyone! I’m new to all of this, so please be patient. :)
I am creating a members-based website — I have all of my pages basically finished in terms of functionality (design is still to be done). I want this to be an invite-only website so the general public can’t sign-up and use it. The reason for this is because it’s a website for marginalized people and safety is an issue.
Everything that I try to search (on here and on google) seems to misunderstand my question.Basically, what I want to do is create a password protection page. Not a sign-in/sign-up page, but just a simple landing page that requires all visitors/users to enter a password; once the password is entered, they can proceed to the login-in/sign-up page.
It seems like setting my website to private wouldn’t achieve what I’m trying to do because non-members wouldn’t be able to sign up.
I guess the best way to describe it, in comparison, is like when a YouTube or Vimeo video is set to private and you have to enter a specific password to gain access to it.
Do y’all know of any plug-ins and/or widgets that would have a password widget where I could just drop onto the page? I would need to be able to change the password as needed, as well.
I hope all this makes sense! Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
Would it be worth simply applying a password to the login/sign-up page as per this guide linked below?
