Password re-set

    Hi,
    I have forgotten my password but wordpress won’t let me re-set it using email.
    How can I re-set it please?

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

    So, I went through the steps of re-setting my password and I can log in to my site on google chrome/ internet explorer. That’s all fine.

    However, when I try and log in through the Bitnami WordPress (I have installed this onto my laptop), it says my password is incorrect. I’m new to all of this, so getting a bit confused.

    Any idea why its doing this?

    What do you mean by address?

    Do you suggest I get in contact with the open source wordpress.org software? i.e., Bitnami? I read something about re-setting password using pHpMyAdmin, but it just looks so complicated and way above my level.

    Luckily, I haven’t done any work on the site. Just downloaded a theme. I am happy to delete it and then start from scratch again if it makes the whole process less complicated. Will there be any problems if I do this?

    Finally, I am happy to use a different open source software (not Bitnami). Can you recommend any other good ones?

    I am a complete beginner so any tips are appreciated.

    Sorry for all the questions. Just want to sort this ASAP.

    What is the URL of the site you’re trying to access?

    The address of your site is, for example, example.wordpress.com. We will use this to confirm whether you are using WordPress.com or WordPress.org. If you’re on WordPress.com, we’ll be able to help. If you’re on WordPress.org, then yes, you will need to continue this on their forums, as .com and .org are two different entities.

    Bitnami WordPress (I have installed this onto my laptop)

    Bitnami WordPress doesn’t sound familiar to me, but I’m still a fairly new user so not completely familiar with all the WordPress features. However, I don’t believe you would need to install any WordPress.com features onto your computer, only WordPress.org, so I suspect you may in fact be using .org. If you share the URL/address (example.wordpress.com) of your site, we will be able to confirm.

    @steffiparas     if you’re using Bitnami, then that is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, which we really can’t help with here.

    To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

    WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
