password reset doesn't stick… how to reset and keep?
-
i;’m having a problem with password storage and reset.
each time i logout and try to go back in with the prior password it tells me password invalid or such.
When I follow instructions for recover, it says (after e-mail) i will receive a snss code number to facilitate. But what comes back is a link to reset just by click and reset. That then works for the current session but if i logout it doesn’t work for the next time. How do i fix this (it never happened before). I used a prior PW [removed by Staff] as a saved p/w and it always worked when I logged in.
What’s gone wrong?
‘m sure it’s something idiotically simple, but it’s a pain having to reset every day,and record keeping is a mess.
Thanx for your help.

Hi there!
If you have saved a password in your browser settings, you would also need to update that password in your browser when you reset your WordPress.com password using the reset link in the email. Here’s a reference for the Chrome browser on how to manage your stored passwords:
https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95606?hl=enAlso, by resetting your password you’re forced to enter a new password, so an old password that used to work may not work anymore.
I hope that clarifies things! Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for your help.
The problem was that the snss code was being sent by WordPress to MY CELLPHONE AS TEXT. This seems to be a default, tho elsewhere (Youtube?) I’ve always had the option of choosing how to receive the reset link.
With all due respect, shouldn’t the default address for the SNSS reset be (my) email address? Like a lot of people with lim vision and impatience, I find texting a nightmare.
Is there anything I should do to ensure that cell-phone and/or texting is NOT the channel for reset info?
JP.

You can remove the Account Recovery phone number by going to Users -> Personal Settings from your site’s dashboard. Deselect the country code and delete the phone number from the field and click save.
Please note, the account recovery and password reset notifications will go to both the email address and the phone number listed under your user personal settings. Here’s more information on Account Recovery:
