Password Reset Error Wrong Keys Error Message
-
I’m in need of some help with an error message I’m receiving when I try to reset my password on a self hosted WordPress site.
I’m not sure if this came from a recent update which I installed but I updated wordpress then logged out and came back the next day to log in and I could not log in as admin with my user:pass.l
So then I did the reset password option via email here is what the url in the address bar returns examplesite.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword&error=invalidkey and the message on the login box says
“Please enter your username or email address. You will receive a link to create a new password via email.
Sorry, that key does not appear to be valid.”I have also reset the password via PHPAdmin by generating an MD5 hash password that didn’t work I also tried the emergancy.php file from root that didn’t work now I’m completely lost and will probably only do more damage than good as I’m not a developer.
All and any help and or advice would be greatly appreciated I would usually try and solve problems myself but this has stopped me and I can’t solve it.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums. http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.
