    Hi jamesng1986,

What is the username of the other account? As well, you can post the email address that the link was sent to. Only staff will see it, it’ll be redacted for other members.

I’ve added the ‘modlook’ tag to your post, so that staff will see your post and assist you in due time.

    Hi james,

The email address you mentioned isn’t connected to any WordPress.com accounts. I’ve sent an email to the owner of the james account about the next steps. For security reasons I can’t share which email address this is so please check all of your accounts including the spam folder.

    Thanks!

    Dear Gemma,

The WordPress account for “www.evergreenreno.com” was created by an ex-employee of our company and he has since left the company almost a year ago. We have asked that he transferred all logins and rights to the account back to us and what he did was he created 2 admin accounts for us and deleted himself from the account.

We now realized that we don’t have the 3 types of ownership verification to provide to you and we are also certain now that this account (www.evergreenreno.com) was registered under an email account under belongs to the ex-employee of ours. Since he is no longer with us and remains uncontactable, would there be any other ways for us to verify ourselves as owner(s) of http://www.evergreenreno.com?

I understand that due to security reasons, you are unable to share with us the email address that is linked to the ownership of http://www.evergreenreno.com. However, will you be able to verify if it is or isn’t under “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”? As this was the personal email address of our ex-employee.

I will also be able to provide you further information that in the user account of http://www.evergreenreno.com, there should be 3 users account. 2 administrators and 1 subscriber. One admin belonging to (email visible only to moderators and staff) under the account name William. Another belonging to (email visible only to moderators and staff) under James. And a last one which I have just created today, when I was still able to log in to my admin account before I accidentally logged out of my own admin account, to (email visible only to moderators and staff) under James Ng.

Please let us know if there are other steps for verification as we really need access back to our company website to make changes.

    Best Regards,
    James Ng

    Hi James,

The WordPress account for “www.evergreenreno.com” was created by an ex-employee

evergreenreno.com is a self hosted WordPress.org site, rather than a WordPress.com site. There is some information about the differences between the two in this guide:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

The site is separate from WordPress.com and hosted by HostPapa. evergreenreno.com isn’t hosted on our servers so we do not have access to it. For this reason, we won’t be able to help you with your account there.

We now realized that we don’t have the 3 types of ownership verification to provide to you

At the moment you need help with accessing:

    1. Your WordPress.com account, james
    2. The site http://www.evergreenreno.com

    Your WordPress.com account

If you have access to the email address you use for the james account or proof of ownership, we can work through the account recovery process. We won’t be able to help you access the account without the email address or proof of ownership. Did you receive the email I sent to the owner of that account?

    The site evergreenreno.com

This site isn’t hosted on our servers so we won’t be able to help you access it. I recommend contacting your hosting company (HostPapa) for help — they should be able to give you some advice about the next steps needed to gain access to the site.

Support for WordPress.org sites is also available on these forums:

    Dear Gemma,

Thank you for your explanation. Sorry to be of trouble to you as it is now quite clear that I’m not savvy with website stuff.

What I can tell you is, I have access to our host account with hostpapa. But what we want to do is edit the website http://www.evergreenreno.com which if I understood correctly, should be done with WordPress. That I have an issue to log in to. The link I have been given instruction to use should I need to do editing is http://www.evergreenreno.com/wp-admin. I’ve tried to log in there and failed. The user ID or email address tied to that account is under my work email address. Which when I clicked lost password, WordPress sent a link to reset the password to that email. That too I recieved. But when I clicked on it, it shows that the link is invalid.

So when you said a further email has been sent to that address by you for verification purposes, I tried checking it and I never received it. The email address should be (email visible only to moderators and staff).

As far as I understand, there should be only 3 users in that account. 2 admin and 2 subscriber. I am able to provide the email address of all 3 accounts as 2 belongs to me and 1 belongs to a colleague who is still with us. But he is also unable to log in due to his password being lost. The only account I can access is the subscriber account which I have created myself before accidentally logging myself out of my own admin account.

Please advice what else we can can do to recover admin access to the account so we can do some editing to the website.

    Best Regards,
    James Ng.

    Hi James,

Thank you for your explanation. Sorry to be of trouble to you as it is now quite clear that I’m not savvy with website stuff.

    You’re welcome and it’s no trouble :)

But what we want to do is edit the website http://www.evergreenreno.com which if I understood correctly, should be done with WordPress.

If evergreenreno.com was created on WordPress.com and hosted on our servers, you would be able to fully manage the site from your account here.

However, you are using the self hosted version of WordPress, WordPress.org. This is a separate entity from WordPress.com. The site isn’t hosted with us or connected to WordPress.com in any way so you need to login to it directly at evergreenreno.com/wp-admin.

On WordPress.org sites, the password reset emails are sent by your host rather than WordPress.com.

So when you said a further email has been sent to that address by you for verification purposes, I tried checking it and I never received it.

I sent an email to the owner of the WordPress.com account you said you needed help with (james). This email will not help you access evergreenreno.com though.

I had a look at the WordPress.org support forums and there are a number of similar posts about the issue you are having:

    Search

There are quite few suggestions there but I would also contact HostPapa in case they are able to help you.

Please advice what else we can can do to recover admin access to the account so we can do some editing to the website.

As much as I’d like to help you get this sorted, we don’t have any control over the site or password reset emails. HostPapa will be able to tell you if there is anything they can do to help.

Come back to me if anything is unclear.
