Past Expired Domain
-
We got an email from WordPress back in April that stated the following
‘The domain name ________ about to expire. This upgrade replaces your site’s default address of ‘miriammaureen.wordpress.com’ with the custom domain ‘name’.
Renew domain
The domain […] costs , and it is set to expire in 2 days, on April 10, 2016. If this upgrade expires, your site will no longer be available at ‘name’.
If you would like to keep the domain you should renew it immediately to avoid a late registration fee or losing it permanently when it expires.
You can upgrade to WordPress.com Premium for only $99.00.
Upgrade Now
If you have any problems or questions, please do not hesitate to contact Support.’We are now in June and have not renewed it because we completely missed this email.
Have we COMPLETELY lost our domain name?

Hi Moe, it looks like […] expired on April 10 which means it is unlikely you will be able to get it back at this poitn. See the support page on Domain Expiration:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/
When I check the whois info for the domain name, the status says it is “pendingDelete” which usually means that it will be eventually thrown back into the general pool and so that it can be registered again (90 days from the expiration date is Saturday, 9 July 2016). However, as per the support article, I would not hold my breath if I were you.
Domain Status: pendingDeleteGood luck.

Hi classicsuper,
So what we can do right now is wait for it to be available to buy again?
When you say that there is 90 days from the expiration date, which lands on Sat. July 9, 2016, what do you specifically mean? Will the domain be available on this day to purchase?
When you go to the site, it says the following –
“Domain Suspension
This domain is in pending delete status and will be dropped from the Registry on Jul 12, 2016 and available for Registration by the public through your preferred Registrar or you can also Backorder it through Registrars that offers that service.”Is it available to purchase on July 9th or July 12?
And would we be able to auction or ‘backorder’ it our selves?
Thank you,
Moe -
Hi @msquaredlifestyle, trust the date from the registrar. We can also attempt to get the domain back for you, though we often can’t when it’s pending delete, and there will likely be a redemption fee.
Or you can wait it out til the domain is dropped from the registry and buy it again (assuming no one else does first.)
Let us know if you’d like us to try to redeem it.

Hi Supernovia,
Yes! If there’s a small chance that WordPress can redeem it then I don’t mind paying a fee at all. No matter how much it is.
I would like to try to redeem it.
Is there something I can be doing to make it easier or faster?
