Paste from Word problem

  I use Kubuntu 8.04 with Firefox 2.0.0.1.4 with Java and Javascript enabled. Before, I could use the Paste-from-Word command in the visual editor to paste an OpenOffice (v.2.4.1) file into a draft post, with no problem. Then some three months ago, for no apparent reason, it stopped working for me. When I now select the Paste-from-Word command, a window still appears saying “ctrl-V to paste”, but the cursor does not, and I get no response at all when I press ctrl-V or Insert. So for a few months now, I have had to prepare posts online using the Visual editor. I’d like to be able to paste from Word (or OpenOffice) again. Kindly help me.
