Hey there,
Many thanks for reaching out!
Can you tell me the name of the post and/or page you’re working on please? We’ll look to retrace some steps and see what’s happening there.
It sounds like there could be some formatting that’s being carried over that’s not sitting well when pasted – can you also tell us the origin of the content being worked on please?
Many thanks and looking forward to hearing from you!

I want simply paste in a table cell without formatting (like link, bold etc.). Also, many other paste related problem is coming. If i copy from heading and paste in paragraph, it pastes like heading. All this problem have started just 1 week before.

Hey there,
Many thanks for reaching back out.
I’d recommend running the content through a blank editor like Notepad, or Atom, which are just plain text editors.
many other paste related problem is coming
Where are you pasting from exactly, and what problems are arising? I’m wondering if there’s a way to streamline the flow you’re following there…
Many thanks and looking forward to hearing from you!

If i am copying anything from blog page and pasting in any table cell, then it’s allowing only ‘paste as plain text’, while i want simply ‘paste’ without any formatting.
At the same time, if i copy same thing from MS-word, then it’s working fine and does paste in table cell of blog age without any formatting like i want.
So, this is the problem and tell me the solution.

Copying and pasting from MS-Word traditionally carries over formatting. To check what’s required, are you looking to copy and paste from MS-Word and when pasting, not have any formatting?
Many thanks in advance.

Why are you not getting the point ? or deliberately you don’t want to solve problem?
My problem is clearly written that anything copied (word with link or bold etc.) from the blog page is pasted as plain text, while i want to paste as it is. It’s as simple as that. Now, i think this time you’ll understand the problem and solve too..

Hi there,
Microsoft Word is a print-based page layout application, and it is not designed with websites in mind. While we do our best to retain formatting when pasting over, not all kinds of formatting will translate from a page editor to a web editor. We cover this in more detail here:
Microsoft Word is a fine word processor for producing documents to be shared or printed, with a wealth of print-based options for indexing, and producing table of contents. As a web publishing tool, however, it is a little less than ideal and produces very messy HTML. The same applies when using Google Docs, OpenOffice, or other word processors. Because of this, we strongly encourage our usersThis is not specifically a WordPress issue, but a situation that any web-based text editor (Squarespace, Wix, Etc.) would struggle with, due to the fact that Microsoft does not make efforts on their end to make copy/paste formatting more broadly compatible.
Instead you may wish to use a tool like Google Docs (or Google Sheets) to create your tabular content, as this would allow you to embed that content directly into your posts without changing the formatting:
Google Docs is a popular service for managing documents online. You can easily embed your Google Docs spreadsheets, documents, forms, and presentations into your WordPress.com site by copying and pasting the embed code. PrivacyDocsGoogle DriveSheetsSlidesFormsExternal Documents Privacy Before you share a Google Docs file, please make sure the document is public. If it is private, you’llYou also have the option to publish your Word Doc as a PDF, and then embed the PDF into your posts, which will also preserve formatting. An additional option would be to embed as a Microsoft OneDrive document, which is the solution they provide internally for preserving formatting when moving content directly to the web:

Another option you can consider is to add a 3rd party plugin to your site that also supports MS Word Doc embeds: https://wordpress.com/plugins?s=word+embed
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Hey @pravesh80, I ran into a similar case today and was able to find the related bug: formatted text won’t paste in table cells (and some other places.) Please do use paste as plain text for now, and if you’d like to follow the bug for updates, you can find it here:

Cheers!
