Pasting content from Word
-
My “Paste Word” Icon is missing from from my toolbar today.
The “Paste as Text” icon is still there, but the one I usually use to paste directly from Word, which was there yesterday, does not show up on my toolbar this morning. What happened to it? Is it gone forever or is there some strange bug that caused it to disappear?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

As follow-up, when I click on the “Paste as Text” icon, I get this message:
“Paste is now in plain text mode. Contents will now be pasted as plain text until you toggle this option off.”
How do I toggle that off? And does that have anything to do with the problem of the missing “Paste from Word” icon?

We have removed the “Paste as Word” button from the toolbar, but this should not affect your ability to paste Word documents into WordPress.com.

When I use the “paste as text” button, I lose all my Word formatting. But when I used the “Paste from Word” button, my formatting remained intact.
Why did WordPress decide to remove the “Paste from Word” button? It made it so easy for those of us who draft using Microsoft Word.

Thanks for your question. I’ve updated the sticky note.
In brief, the change in the editor is happening both for self-hosted users of WordPress and WordPress.com users, and comes with updated software we use to run part of the editor called TinyMCE.

You should also now be able to paste text directly from Word without a problem, but if you do need the plain text paste option, you still have that as well.

Thanks. I’ll copy and paste from Word, but when I did it this morning, I lost all my formatting and links that I put into my Word doc. I’ll work around it, and I’ll get used to it, but it does seem like a slight step backwards.
