Pasting from Word
-
Why can I no longer have the option to paste something from Word? Namely a table that I use regularly on a page.

On March 24th, Staff introduced new features to WordPress.com and eliminated some old ones from the editor. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/the-paste-as-word-button-has-been-removed-from-the-visual-editor?replies=6 They removed the “Paste as (Microsoft) Word” button from the Visual Editor toolbar in your post/page editor window. All we have now is the paste as plain text icon that we can use and it removes all formatting. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text
Blog editors and word processors are not the same and do not work the same way. The web standard is one blank line only, so you cannot add more blank lines by pressing return repeatedly like you would do with a typewriter or in a word processing application. For formatting and spacing see > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/09/13/wordpress-formatting-and-spacing/
When you create a new post, always make sure the Format tool is set to Paragraph before you start typing. It’s in the Visual editor Row 2 first position “style”. See the illustration here http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2 If you forget to do that then edit the post, highlight all in the Visual editor, select Paragraph from the Format tool, switch editor to Text then switch back to Visual and click Update.
Or use Windows Live Writer

Thanks for reply Timethief, I have tried all of those options you gave links to. Except Windows Live Writer which I find a bit complicated. Other options did not work.
I am really disappointed, because it takes me a lot more time to edit the table when it appears as plain text and still looks messy and uneven.
Why oh why did someone “fix” something that was not broken, and worked perfectly!?
Reading through some of the other forum posts confirms that other users are also more than unhappy with it too.
