Pasting Google Analytic Code in the footer.php
-
Hi There –
I am trying to install Google Analytics to my blog and some of the resources I am finding tell me to simply “Copy the code that you received in Step 6, and paste it in your theme’s footer.php right above the </body> tag.” (http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-install-google-analytics-in-wordpress/)However, I have no idea how to access the footer.php. I have searched the dashboard of our site for a long while with no success, can you please tell me how to access the footer.php file please?
Also – I tried to do this via the plugin: Google Analytics for WordPress by Joost de Valk, however I didn’t see a place where I could install plugins. Are plugins not available for normal wordpress hosted blogs?
Thanks,
NaphyThank you!!

Access to the footer.php file (or any php editing directly) is not offered as an option on WordPress.com. If you would like control to modify php files (full control of all the code), then we recommend switching to WordPress.org. Same thing goes for plugins. Please see http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
Google Analytics is not available to add to WordPress.com blogs, but we do offer a number of stats. Please see this help page to see what stats we offer: http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/
