Pasting into gutenberg creates unwanted blocks

    Noob here. I’ve seen a lot of discussion about this issue but I can’t figure out what is current. If I am editing the text in the middle of a Gutenberg text block, and I paste text from notepad, it does a very strange thing.

    The block I was in the middle of is immediately split into two blocks, and the new pasted text is pasted as a third block between them, with no formatting.

    What should happen is the original block should stay as it was, with the new text inserted in the middle.

    I am not pasting a block…I am pasting text. Splitting one block into three is not a reasonable solution.

    How do I just paste the text?

    WP 6.1.1 Beaumont theme.

    Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed hosting.

    To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions.

    Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at your current provider. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.

    I don’t need help with my site, thank you.

    I need to know why wordpress creates 3 blocks when I am pasting into a single block. This is independent of which site it is on, it is a design issue.

    I need to know how to paste in the middle of a block, on any wordpress gutenberg 6.1 site.
