Note: The following processes are outlined particularly for users who wish to upload a document and add its download link to a blog post or page. If you are seeking to simply upload a document to your blog’s Media Library (no download link), you can check out Media -> Add New in your dashboard. http://en.support.wordpress.com/uploading-documents/

Thanks. But I don’t want to upload a document, but, rather, to paste an object from a pdf file.

It’s hard to tell what exactly you’re asking, but if you’re looking to embed a document than Scribd is supported. If you don’t want your visitors to launch PDF program when you present them your PDF links, you can instead provide Google Docs Viewer link:

Thanks for wading in.:) When I see “object” I think of embeds and iframes which the software will strip the codes out of > http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/ -
I just mean a bit of text from a pdf copied using the “copy area” function of PDF Converter 6, such that it might then be pasted as an image no longer editable as text.

Actually the Scribd thing might be what i am looking for. But I’m surprised i was not able to paste areas from a pdf, given it is to load various sorts of image files.

Pretty good. I uploaded a pdf and it transferred without loss of formating and with reasonable quality.
ultimately i want to ublish stuff on wordpress with memberwish software to control access. i was going to link to pdf’s but mememberwish doesn’t currently protect media files only pages. so publishing direct to the page is of interest to me. and this scribd looks like a good option.
one thing I wonder is whether it can be saved (looks like not, but that could be a good thing) and whether it can be edited by readers (it wasnt possible to send an encrypted file, but this downlad looks like it isn’t editable, probably a good thing). And the other issue is whether it can be picked up by search engines and accessed from Scribds. I guess not if you choose the private setting, but if anyone who knows can confirm, would be inteterested to hear.

The content inside a Scribd box isn’t Googleable as far as I know, but the title and tags are. I don’t believe you can have it private AND embed it on your blog as well.
