  I use free edition pasting spreadsheets was OK but not I only get text

  Google Docs might be the best plan for a spreadsheet.

  The problem was caused by Mozilla Firefox, pasting the correct format for spreadsheets is OK with Explorer.

  This sounds like it might be related to the issues in this thread:

  What I discovered was that there are some issues when pasting from Word or Google Docs when using Firefox in particular, but changing your browser, as you discovered, seems to help.
