Pasting text from Word to Post Editor

Is it true that copying and pasting text from Microsoft Word into the Post Editor will cause strange things to appear?

In short, yes if you post into the visual editor, no if you post via the “Paste from Word” or “Paste as Plain Text” buttons, no if you paste into the html editor.

Of course you can. The support documentation entry is illustrated and the symbol used on the “paste from Word” icon is the same W symbol you see representing the microsoft Word program elsewhere. In the illustration it has been circled in red.
