Pasting widget in text box.. not working.
-
When I try to paste a widget into the text box on my sidebar, I click save and the pasted text dissappears. Below is the pasted widget.
<object type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” data=”http://widgets.clearspring.com/o/486b9d4d7e84547a/4a520fa5343731f3/486cd0403dc84769/725f6867″ id=”W486b9d4d7e84547a4a520fa5343731f3″ width=”300″ height=”250″><param name=”movie” value=”http://widgets.clearspring.com/o/486b9d4d7e84547a/4a520fa5343731f3/486cd0403dc84769/725f6867″ /><param name=”wmode” value=”transparent” /><param name=”allowNetworking” value=”all” /><param name=”allowScriptAccess” value=”always” /></object>

That’s flash. Flash, javascript, forms and iframes are not allowed in wp.com, for security reasons.

hi, I am trying to post script to translate my posts unto other languages using a flag option. Every time i post in the code and save widget, the title appears and nothing else. Firstly, is it possible to add a translator to my blog and secondly if I can, can you help. I am looking to translate to Urdu. http://www.quidsin.wordpress.com is my blog
-
Ok…. so is there any way i can get add a language translator to my blog. I have seen the language.wordpress but i don’t know if this applies to dot com blogs.
-
See this other thread which has a link to a solution: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/translator-widgets-2?replies=2#post-356304 .

Hi thanks, i tried that but have now realised a new problem… all my text widgets have disappeared. I also can not add any new text widgets. I can’t seem to understand if i have disabled something.
-
If you had not yet added any widgets to the sidebar, what you were seeing was a sample set generated by the theme so that you could see what they look like. Once you add a widget, the sample set will disappear. All you have to do though is drag and drop the additional widgets that your want to have in your sidebar into the sidebar and arrange them as you see fit.

Thanks for replying so quickly. I have added widgets since i started my blog. i inserted text widgets with thoughts of the day etc ie static information. These text widgets have dissapeared. i tried to test the text widget to see if it works. i simply wrote hello and tried to save the widget. when i viewed the widget list, the text widget did not show. Any suggestions as to why my text widget is not working?
-
The widgets can be a little finicky. After you add the information to a text widget, make sure and click save and then wait for the little spinning donut that appears to the left of the save button to quit spinning. Then click the close link and view the blog. I’ve had a few instances where I had to do that two or three in order to get the widget to show up on the blog. Typically though it takes the first time.

Nope. I waited for the sinner to stop spinning but the sidebar is not updating to indicate a text widget has been added. Ps. where can i retrieve my other text widgets that have mysteriously disappeared. My text widget is definately not working.
-
Look in the “inactive widgets section at the bottom of the appearance > widgets page. If they are not there, then they cannot be retrieved.

any suggestions on how to get my text widget to work. Should i be upgrading my wordpress. I am not sure which version i am currently working with so don’t know if i need to upgrade. Do you think this might be the reason? if not, any suggestions?

Log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again. It could be a cookie or cache issue.
What browser and browser version are you using?

i found this forum
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/280881
but there doesn’t seem to be a solution. -
The solutions over at wordpress.ORG will typically not work here since the self-hosted wordpress software is different from what we use here, and typically the solutions they propose involve editing the underlying theme or wordpress PHP files, and we do not have access to those.

I’ve been attempting to get my text widget to work for ages and still no joy. i am using wordpress.com – not sure which version, is there a way to check? Anyway, have wordpress disabled it or do i have a bug? If I have a bug, how do i fix it? I have tried changing themes, still no, re booted, still no.
