Pasting widget in text box.. not working.

  • Unknown's avatar

I can add text widget all day, and I’ve seen no one else having problems with them here in the forums.

Could you please answer my question from before?

Log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again. It could be a cookie or cache issue.

What browser and browser version are you using?

How do i check which browser version i am using. Probably the latest whatever that is as i only started my blog at the start of June. Also, how do i clear browser cache and cookies?

Found out how to clear browser cache and cookies – done that and restarted the browser. still no. Can you tell me how to check which version of wordpress i am using.

Just noticed something, my dashboard is saying that i have 5 widgets. In actual fact only 4 are showing. Could this help?

Dear thesacredpath, I fear that you have stopped replying to my thread. I have been spending several hours trying to get my text widget to work. Would you be able to go in and check out why it is not working. My dashboard says I have one more widget than i really do if this helps. Please reply.

WordPress here is WordPress, there is no “version.”

I need the browser you are using (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, SeaMonkey, Opera, or etc.). I also need the version. If you are on Windows, while your browser is open, click on the help menu and at the bottom of that will be an “about [browser name]. Click on that and it will give you the version you are using.

Also what operating system are you using (Mac OS X, Windows 98, Windows XP, Windows Vista or etc.).

I can see that you’re using several widgets right now. Have you put a title on the text widget you’re trying to add? Do that. In fact, just as a test, try putting in a text widget with a title and just some words in the content and see if that goes in easily. Let us know.

    Oh i see….Microsoft inernet Explorer MSIE 7.0
    Operating System Windows Vista

Do one of two things: Upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 or download and install Firefox 3.5. If you download FF and it doesn’t work then you can uninstall it if you wish.

IE6 and 7 has always had issues with the widgets here partially due to the fact that IE6 and 7 were never compliant with web standards. IE8 is better, but still not completely compliant from what I’ve seen.

My suggestion would be to go with Firefox 3.5. You will have far fewer problems with it than with IE.

  • Unknown's avatar

Ok thanks, i’ll give that a try and get back to you.

downloaded firefox3.5 the problem is still there. I am still concerned that my dashboard indicates that i have one more widget than i really do. Do i have a hidden widget somewhere?

Contact support directly then and explain the issues and that it is that way in FF and IE. Also mention the extra widget showing in the dashboard count.
