Paths for users as subdomains

  We installed WPMU with blogs as subdomains and then created a new blog. But in the Blogs tab, when we click on Backend for the new blog, the software attempts to access

  subdomain.domain.com/install_path/wpmu/wp-admin/

  and returns 404 page not found. It seems this location cannot exist, as the installation is not inside the subdomain. How is this supposed to work?
