Pay monthly plans not visible in Plans page

  • Unknown's avatar

I want to determine whether WordPress is suitable for my needs. WordPress.com shows monthly and annual plans. However when I am logged in and select Plans I can onlu see 1 year and 2 year plans. I don’t want to have to commit to a whole year just to evaluate WOrdpress paid features. How can I see the pay monthly options? Please can you confirm that once I have found those options I am not committed for a whole year?

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

I’ve asked our engineers to take a closer look at your issue. For now you should be able to use this direct link to access monthly billing for all our plans, just toggle to the plan you want to use:

As an alternative, you can also consider purchasing the annual plan (which has a more generous refund period) and it would give you two weeks to evaluate.

Additionally, feel free to tell us more about your project, the kind of site you are trying to set up, or any specific functionality you plan on needing! We’re happy to take a closer look and make sure that the plan you are interested in is a good fit for your needs.

    Thanks for the additional info!

Hi thanks for the information. I will explore the link. I am evaluating WordPress.com as one potential solution to move a club website wadac.org.uk to a new platform where we would be less dependent on 3rd parties to support changes and maintenance. The existing site is wadac.org.uk and is managed using CraftCMS. To continue to use CraftCMS we would need to engage a Craft partner at some cost.

We will have pages for each section of the site, which have static content plus news feeds from the central blog filtered by category. Also need an event calendar and exploring photo gallery options. Would like integration with social media so posts can go to our FB group for example.

We use Wild Apricot to manage our membership, targeted emails to members and event information. I would like to be able to link the event information held in Wild Apricot to an event log/calendar on the web site. I think this can be done using the event list Widget from WIld Apricot https://gethelp.wildapricot.com/en/articles/480-event-list-widget but it might require a plug-in. A really nice to have would be a member area which uses the WIld Apricot member list and credential for access.

One thing that I have found to be a challenge with all CMS tools I’ve seen is admin bulk download of asset media (export photo libraries). For this reason we may consider using a separate tool for photo galleries.

Well, you did ask! If you can advise whether the Premium plan will do this ro we would need Business that would be useful.

  • Hey there,

Thanks for reaching back out with that additional information.

we would be less dependent on 3rd parties to support changes and maintenance

Themes and plugins on WordPress.com will automatically update: https://wordpress.com/support/plugins/update-a-plugin-or-theme/#plugins-and-themes-from-word-press-org-repositories from the get go, so in this sense, with maintenance, the site will look after itself.

As a fail safe, the site will also have downtime monitoring – to avoid issues before they happen. More of this can be found here: https://wordpress.com/support/settings/#downtime-monitoring

We will have pages for each section of the site, which have static content plus news feeds from the central blog filtered by category.

All of this comes as standard, and there’s a variety of ways to achieve these, this links here go into more detail into what’s possible:

Also need an event calendar and exploring photo gallery options.

The Events Calendar is a plugin, which is a pretty comprehensive system for showcasing events: https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar/ – to check, are you events created and managed via Wild Apricot?

With regards to galleries, this is also something that’s built in: https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-editor/blocks/gallery-block/

Would like integration with social media so posts can go to our FB group for example.

This integration can be configured and managed as per these steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/sharing/

It looks like it’s possible to integrate fully with WildApricot and these steps can be found here: https://gethelp.wildapricot.com/en/articles/199-integrating-with-wordpress

It looks like these plugins here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/wild+apricot/ can also help.

One thing that I have found to be a challenge with all CMS tools I’ve seen is admin bulk download of asset media (export photo libraries). For this reason we may consider using a separate tool for photo galleries.

Are referring to extracting the photos from the media library itself, or do you find that images take a long time to load when visiting the page? We can probably advise on that too!

So, with the WildApricot integration, you would need the business plan at a minimum, but looking at wadac.org.uk – this could very well be justified in order to keep things running smoothly, if not smoother.

I hope this is all useful information!

Thanks for the advice. I will check out the links. This is extremally helpful. I am referring to downloading as an admin so that we can keep them if we move to another platform in future. This does not seem to be easy in any of the CMS tools I have used.

OK If I try the Upgrade to Business button in the post from May 4, 2023 8:48 pm when I am logged into WordPress.com then I get taken to the page where there are only annual options available and do not have pay monthly options.

If I paste it into a browser where I am not logged in and then log in I can choose monthly, choose a wordpress.org domain (this is a test site so don’t want to point my domain at it yet) and get to the point that I need to pay. However it will create a new site rather than upgrading the existing one. Do I just need to use the exising wordpress.org address to get it to upgrade the existing one rather than creating a new one? It should be easier than this.

  • Hi there!

    Thanks for the update here!

You should see a monthly Business plan in your checkout cart now for the http://wadac543835652.wordpress.com/ site. You may need to refresh your screen to see the cart changes.

You’ll also have access to live chat support on the Business plan. So if you’re needing assistance, feel free to utilize that plan feature!
