pay pal button not working
-
hi,
I’m trying to create a “buy now” paypal button. I create all the code and i paste it on my html page. I click “visual and i see the buttons but when i click update or preview there isn’t.
any solution?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That button cannot be used. The ONLY button from Paypal that we are allowed to use here is the unencrypted Donation button. If ecommerce is central to your website, you will need to find independent hosting and move off WordPress.com, because we don’t allow the code for the other Paypal buttons, for security reasons.

so there isn’ t any way to create a small shop on my website? if no, do you know any other way to create a simple site without coding but with a small shop?
thanks

I was trying to find that out too, so thanks, but what a pain! I didn’t realize you couldn’t sell things on WP using Paypal.
Can anyone suggest any alternative so that I can still sell my book on WordPress, rather than move “offshore”? i.e. is there any safe alternative to Paypal?
And can anyone suggest a web site where I could in fact sell my book by building my own page (i.e. not Amazon or AbeBooks or Biblio where they take a commission?

You can use the donate button; you just don’t send out the book unless they “donate” the amount you tell them in advance.
You can link to a web store if you host it elsewhere on the web, but staff do suspend blogs if they think the sole purpose of the blog is to drive people to the web store.

Now I’m trying to create a simple donation button but it doesn’t work. I already create a donation button on my other blog and it works perfectly. why?
-
I don’t know what your other blog is, so I can’t compare them. In the site linked to your name, I see the button just fine.
-
I just set up my donation button following instructions from the sight including the link. It looks perfect, but when you click on it, it says page not found. HELP!
-
Let’s cover the basics; do you have a Paypal account? Can you give us a link to the page on your blog where you’ve got the button? If it’s in the preview, I don’t think it works.
-
Yes, I have a Paypal account. Yes, I used the link in the preview. I tried first just to type the exact wordage, but that didn’t work either. Where should I get the link that works?

We Volunteers do not have backend access to blogs and as raincoaster said we can’t see any previews. I have flagged this thread for Staff attention.

Okay guys, I finally figured it out. The problem wasn’t the link on the preview page, it was rather my human error in pasting the paypal code itself into the link. I didn’t realize that it wasn’t automatically deleting the first http:// and replacing it with the full one, but rather had http://https:// and then the code. Of course, it wasn’t working! Thank you to raincoaster and timethief!!!
