Pay Pal "Buy Now" Button

Was told I could have a simple website to sell a product but it appears the only Pay Pal button supported by WordPress is “donate”. Is this correct? or, can a “buy now” button be used? Please advise.

That’s correct. We can only use the unencrypted PayPal donation button. I’m afraid e-commerce isn’t possible here at WordPress.com, and there are no plans to develop anything for that at this time.
If you require e-commerce/shopping cart functionality, there are no restrictions on e-commerce if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a free hosted WordPress.com blog. See here to learn the differences:

The advertising exceptions noted in support documentation are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, and for extremely high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program.
